Gibraltar 2024

In May of 2024, The Rock Retreat returned to Gibraltar for another enriching week immersed in the world of literature for young readers. Participants from across the globe were equally divided between writers and illustrators. The daily events took place at the esteemed Garrison Library where attendees engaged in a stimulating environment led by world renowned facilitators and surrounded by Gibraltar’s rich cultural heritage. Each day was filled with workshops, discussions, and networking opportunities, fostering a supportive atmosphere for artistic development. We all stayed together at The Retreat Centre set in the majestic Upper Rock Nature Reserve. Louis and Jessica, our much loved chefs, spared nothing in looking after our culinary delights. Relaxed evenings continued the discussions and added to the creative process. Lifelong friendships, international collaborations and publishing contracts were the rewarding results.

Returning to facilitate the retreat were Eleanor Dobbs, Sarah Odedina, and Ken Wilson-Max. This year we were delighted to be joined by literary agent Victoria Wells-Arms, enhancing the experience of this year’s gathering.
